PTA Christmas Fayre is returning on Friday 2nd December at 3.30pm

Dear Parents,

My goodness me, what a busy week we have had at Benhall this week. There has been odd socks for anti bullying week, spots for Pudsey and mealworm investigations in the lab alongside all the usual learning.

It was an absolute delight to welcome so many prospective parents to our open morning this week too. The team were so proud to show off all of our unique learning environments, incredible teaching teams and our brilliant purple learners. The children's enthusiasm for their learning shone through and we couldn't be prouder of how they demonstrated all that is wonderful about our school.

WHATSAPP Groups

Every class has a WhatsApp parent's group.

The WhatsApp groups are not set up by school and therefore we do not have the responsibility for the content.

They can be really useful tools of communication for parents between each other, especially for sharing reminders about events like wear spots for Pudsey. However, when used to obtain a parent's number, express frustration with another parent or share derogatory information about school, the staff or individuals they can be damaging and cause upset for all involved.

Please be mindful about how these groups are used.

Pre School News

In Pre-School this week we have been learning all about the ‘Weather.’ Each Day we have conducted an experiment linked to the weather so looking at Ice, wind, rain, rainbows and sun. They have in their groups discussed the different types of weather and how it might be at different times of the year. The children have explored different media and materials and made clouds, rainbows and rain makers. They have played a weather game, explored sand, shaving foam and water. We have had a role play camp site with the children using their imagination. On Friday we supported Children In Need by dressing up in spots or linked to Pudsey Bear, thank you for the donations. This week we have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Harriet, Bethany and Laila in Silver Family and also Mr Wintle. Have a lovely weekend the Pre-School Team.

Year Group of the Week

This week in Reception we have been learning about shapes in maths, focusing on circles and triangles. We have been sewing shapes, cutting shapes, making shape pictures, using shape vocabulary to describe them, printing with shapes and making transient art shapes. We have looked at artwork created by Kandinsky and spotted the shapes he used in his art and used the computer to create our own artwork. We have also looked carefully at primary colours and been 'Magical Mixers' as we used them to create secondary colours on our colour wheels and outside in the puddles mixing powder paint with the big sweeping brushes. We have started to practise our Christmas show and have already learnt lots of songs ready to perform for you all. If your child does have lines to learn, please do try to practise at home as often as possible to really help with confidence! We absolutely have to say a huge thank you to the children for being such fabulous Benhall Purple Learners as our Open Day visitors came to look around school. They were so proud to show everyone what they can do and talk to them about school life and we had so many comments from parents about how independent and engaged our children were in their learning. Super proud!

School Council Update

This week we had a really important job – meeting with the PTA to organise and discuss our Christmas Fair. Caroline and Jo, two of our amazing PTA members came in to meet with us and we came out of class on Thursday to do this. We agreed that we will lead an assembly next week with Miss Bilton to tell everyone what we need and what will happen. We are also going to be meeting with our classes to tell them all about the fair and let them know what we need.

Next week we will also be deciding a date for our School Council litter pick where we will all choose a friend to come along and help. Well done for another super week School Council 😊

Purple Learning Focus

This week our focus in school has been ‘Seeing effort as the key’ and we have chatted about the importance of this – in everything! The new purple learner board has gone off with a bang and it has been a joy to see different types of learning on the board, I have loved sending home purple learner notes. A big shout out to Nancy in Year 2 who actually nominated a friend because she noticed their second attempt at learning was so much more improved! These are the types of things that come so naturally to our children in Benhall and it is heart-warming to see. Keep up the great effort all – we are a fabulous family! 😊
