Pre School News

In Pre-School this week our theme of learning has been all about being a ‘Mini Writer,’ and what another busy week! This is all about making marks, using a range of small tools eg pencils, paint brushes, knives, scissors and many more tools. It is also about the children being able to recognise some print and letter knowledge in early writing. The children have looked at how an invitation is created and what information is needed on one, in our groups we have looked at Logo’s, what a logo is, why do places have a logo and also the children recognised and named some logo’s. We looked at a playdough recipe and talked about what a recipe is. We then followed through and the children made their own playdough following the recipe, with some really nice textured dough being created. The children have been finding their own name and then we have looked at what letters they can recognise in their name. The children have explored paint and shaving foam with brushes,  and assorted shapes in sand using a stick to draw round or copy the various shapes. They have been really enjoying the construction area.  Our role play stage, with a selection of instruments has been a huge success with some up and coming future singers and musicians. Our vegetable shop role play area has also been busy with trollies being filled with carrots, onions and potatoes and the children using play money to purchase their goods. Our story this week has been The Little Red Hen, which is repetitive and is rhyming. On Monday the children went to forest school they listened to the owl babies story and then used playdough and natural resources to create an owl. On Friday we had hall time and they played a colour matching game and also did music and movement to Tchaikovsky using streamers.  The Little Wandle letter sound this week was ‘O.’ In Pre-School this week we have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Anwen, Thea and Wilf. Next week our theme is being a ‘Mini Artist.’ Reminder MOTHERS DAY celebration at Pre-School, is on Thursday 17^th from 1.30 till 2.40 we would like to invite all mummies to join their child if in session or come in with your child if not and to enjoy some cakes, biscuits and squash, we look forward to seeing you. Thank you to everyone who has supported our super resilient year 2 team, who are continuing to train for their Mini London Marathon in memory of Freddie's Daddy and Jacob's Daddy.  They have more than smashed their target of raising £100 for Winston's Wish.  Their current total is £1323 and continues to rise!
