Dear Parents,
Well there is never a week that is the same at Benhall and that is just how we like it. The team's commitment to supporting every single child in a "no one size fits all" approach is what makes it such a special place to lead, teach and learn. This week we saw just how far we are prepared to go when a child or group of children have an idea.
Last term, our year 2's began a PE unit on developing their running skills, expertly led by our very own London Marathon runner, Mrs Spence. The children were inspired and encouraged by her enthusiasm and truly caught the running bug. However, the children did not stop there! They hatched a plan and with the support of the whole year 2 team they set about organising a mini marathon with the hope of raising £100 for a charity close to the school's heart - Winston's Wish. The reason behind their choice was their unwavering support for two of their friends whose daddies were taken from them far to soon.
Fast-forward a few weeks to yesterday when they showcased just how much love and support there is not only in year 2 but the whole school community. The year 2 children, staff and parents ran the best they have ever ran, propelled by the love, support and cheers of the rest of the school and parents cheering from the sidelines. Thank you to Honey and Summer's mummy for organising the balloon arch, thank you to Cheltenham Town Football Club for sending players to lead the warm-up and run with the children and thank you to all of you for sponsoring the children. As the time of writing this, the total stands at £3011 plus £75 raised from cookie sales.
Please read some of their recounts of the day below.
Love from Miss Morris and team xx
