We developed our imaginative play at the bonfire café, practising how we use sparklers safely, toasting marshmallows on our pretend fire and taking orders for hot dogs and hot chocolate.
We made firework pictures using mixed media and also created transient art fireworks using lots of lovely bits from around the classroom.
Our Year 2 Benhall Buddies came down to help us create firework pictures on the laptops.
We also liked comparing the lengths of the rockets and started to measure them using objects from around the class.
We learnt about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We found out why it is called the Festival of lights and undertook lots of activities that Hindus like to do during the festival.
We read the story of Rama and Sita, dressed up and acted it out.
I left the costumes and props out during continuous provision and the children loved dressing up and re-telling the story all by themselves.
During the festival family's clean their houses and have fabulous feasts with their family and friends. The girls enjoyed cleaning out the dolls house and preparing a yummy meal for the dolls.
They loved writing Diwali cards for their friends.
