Well what a fabulous start back to the term. Yellow Class came back to school with a hop, skip and a jump ready to learn. We have started the week with lots of learning about fireworks and bonfire night. We found out why we celebrate bonfire night and talked about democracy and how we should make decisions. We have been voting for our stories at the end of the day and counting to see which story has most votes. We have been creating bonfires and will be going to forest school to have a bonfire later in the week. On Tuesday afternoon we had a very exciting time, we explored the new play pod and learnt how to use the resources safely. Here are some of the adventures we had with the scrap which we will be able at lunch time from now on!!
We have been learning about Diwali and Diwali is a festival of light. There is a ten headed monster who captured a princess called Sita and took her all the way back to his kingdom. We got her back and that was very good. We made pictures, rockets, posters, traps and trails, lanterns, binoculars and a telephone to ring her to see if she was alright.
Mrs Sharma came and taught us dancing with dance sticks. She had special Diwali clothes for us to try on. They were beautiful. She brought us some lovely little lights called Divas and we even made some. We seed Diwali clothes and dressed up in them. She telled a story about Rama and Sita and that is why Hindus celebrate Diwali. We found India on the globe. We then went to assembly and did a show for the whole school to tell them what we had learnt.
We never stopped doing anything until Sita came back. Mrs Richmond told us that she had a phonecall to say Sita was safe back at the palace and she had a cup of tea and a piece of cake with the Queen.
