Happy New Year Everyone!
We have had a great couple of weeks learning about the rainforest!
In English, we have been learning to tell the story of ‘The tin rainforest’ off by heart. The children changed part of the story on a story map and began to write their own stories yesterday. We have been getting better at using adjectives and noun phrases to describe.
In Maths, we have been collecting information about favourite rainforest animals and presenting it in tally charts, pictograms and bar charts. Today, we will be getting better at reading and interpreting information from these charts.
Yesterday, we had a Music workshop with Indigo class in the hall. The children were able to play percussion instruments in time. They thought carefully about how to make the sounds of the rainforest. Some children even became conductors and led a group with call and response rhythms.
In Science on Monday, we dressed up as rainforest animals and discussed how their body parts help them to live in the rainforest. We will be continuing with the rainforest theme next week, with a focus on deforestation. Perhaps you could find out some facts to share at milk times?
