This Week in Yellow Class
Mrs Houser had a lovely few days with the children earlier in the week exploring our new Space topic while Mrs Pain is getting better.
Along with space, the children have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes - building rockets, problem solving and sorting them. They have been hunting for shapes around the classroom and using the learn pads to take photographs of shapes around the school.
We have been reading and learning the wonderful story ‘Whatever Next’, using our storytelling language and actions - the children have been fantastic at using the actions and remembering the words that will help them with story writing themselves.
We have been learning about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his beautiful ‘Starry Night’ painting and having a go at creating our own Starry Night pictures - have a look around the classroom at the paintings.
Yesterday we had an amazing time in the Space Dome that took over our hall for the morning. Please have a look on Tapestry for some photographs. The children listened brilliantly and already know so much about Space and the planets.
This afternoon's kite making afternoon was very special indeed. The children all made their own kite with the help of their Benhall Family - friends, teachers and parent helpers. They worked brilliantly helping each other and we then had a wonderful afternoon outside on the field flying them. What brilliant weather too. Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it. I loved every moment and it really was quite emotional watching all the children running around with complete joy on their faces as their kites soared and looped in the sky. A perfect end to the week!
More Space learning next week!
Have a lovely weekend - hopefullyDoris free
