We have had a very busy week starting our new topic 'Busy Bodies' and we hit it off straight away when we found half munched cabbages, courgettes and broccoli in our outdoor area. To our amazement the Hungry Caterpillar then slithered out of the cupboard.

We have been looking at the busy life cycle of a caterpillar and have been beginning to retell the story. During our milk times we have been listening to different stories written by Eric Carle such as 'The Tiny Seed' 'Mister Seahorse' and 'Rooster's off to the world!'.

During the week we have also made adjective caterpillars, used watercolours to paint life cycles, recognised and counted eggs on leaves using our knowledge of ones, tens and hundreds as well as creating bug homes and designing our new topic covers.

Next week:

Writing versions of 'The Hungry....'

Maths: Length/Measuring

Science/DT: Materials
