This week the learning has still been focused around ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. The children have been creating storymaps for their own stories and have used these to help them write their stories in order – not missing any important details!
In Maths the children have been learning how to measure in cm and m. They have practised using rulers, tape measures and metre rulers and have been measuring everything in sight!
Yesterday afternoon was very exciting as Green Class received an URGENT message from the not-so-hungry caterpillar, explaining that he had eaten far too many goodies over the bank holiday weekend and was now feeling too sleepy and too full to move. He asked very kindly if Green Class could help him to build somewhere suitable that he could rest. Of course they loved the challenge and came up with some brilliant designs, making sure he had somewhere dark, peaceful, cosy and waterproof to stay.
This term there is a ‘theme’ for our purple learner bus to get us all thinking about how we learn. Last week our theme was ‘Embracing Challenge’ and we have moved on this week to ‘Persisting in the face of difficulty’. The children have been brilliant at explaining how they can persist at an activity that they found challenging.
Next week in Green Class:
*Capacity – measuring in ml and l
*Writing character profiles – focusing on description and spelling common exception words
*Storytelling using lots of expression
*Naming and labelling parts of the body
*Reinforcing measuring in cm and m
