This week we have continued to focus lots of our learning around the story ‘Hector and the big bad knight’. In sessions, we have been coming up with our own versions of the story. The children had a go at making the story – either the one we learnt or their own version – using a variety of resources. We have then used these to begin writing our stories into our books.
In Maths we have been investigating capacity! The children have had a great time measuring and reading scales and have been making containers to try and hold 500ml of water using the construction.
We have had a great week in Science! We gathered different materials that we thought would be good to build a terribly tall tower. We then made predictions about whether they would be strong or waterproof. We carried out the test by all trying to blow the material down and pouring water on it to make sure no water got through. We then shared our results – it looks like either bricks or lego were the winners!
In Music the children have been making their own theme tunes for Hector. They worked together using the xylophones to come up with their own tune. Using the colours on the xylophone they then created their own score that they could follow to play their tune back to the class.
