This week the children have been challenging themselves to learn about counting in 2's, 5's and 10's. This is super tricky but they have all tried so hard. If you could have a practise at home and ask the children to teach you what they have learnt that would be brilliant!
We have had great fun with rhyming words this week - continuing a rhyming string with real and 'alien' words. The children were so good at finding new words that rhyme with a given ending - some fantastic made up words too. We had a group challenge to see how many words we could think of that rhymed with a starting word - the children were amazing and came up with up to 20 words! Fantastic.
On Wednesday we had a brilliant morning doing what we do best in Reception - problem solving. We found a newspaper article telling us that there had been strange sightings of unidentified creatures around Benhall park, Asda and Benhall Infant School. We called the alien information hotline and they asked us to help get the aliens home as soon as possible and that we needed to take care as the aliens might well be scared and sad. As always, the children put on their thinking caps, used the Benhall Toolkit and helped with some amazing ideas for getting the aliens home. Thank you Team Reception.
It has been absolutely wonderful to have our Mrs Pain back too. The children were delighted to see her and have assured me they will take very good care of her - I know they will! Welcome back Mrs Pain.
