This week we have continued learning about the rainforest. We watched a video about a family that lives in the Amazon jungle which provided a great basis for discussion about the similarities and differences in the way we live. The children used this information to create their own information leaflets describing how life in Cheltenham is different to life in the rainforest! We used this for further learning as we located England and different rainforests on a large world map, and used the small construction materials to create different homes. We also used different materials to create pictures of homes that we live in compared to tree houses in the rainforest.
In Maths this week we have been recapping our knowledge of names of 3D shapes. We have extended this by exploring different properties of the shapes. The children used the properties (faces, edges, vertices) to create ‘What shape am I?’ booklets where they wrote clues and asked their friends to guess the shape.
We would love some extra pairs of hands after half term to come in and listen to children read / help with jobs in the classroom. If you are able to come in at any time, please let us know J
