Looked After and Previously Looked After Children

Designated Teacher for Looked After and Previously Looked After Children - Miss Hazel Everett - senco@benhall.gloucs.sch.uk

Governor for Looked After Children (Children In Care) – Mrs Judith Price

At Benhall we focus on the individual needs and strengths of each pupil, working in partnership with parents, guardians and any other professionals linked to the child. We have a trauma-informed and relational approach designed to help children feel safe and secure at school so they are ready to learn.  We employ such strategies as relationship building – with adults and peers, emotion coaching, co-regulation and self-regulation, use of a safe space and arts or play therapy.

Looked After Children (Children In Care)

If a pupil at Benhall is in the care of the Social Services we work closely with Social Workers, Foster Carers and the Virtual School to promote their well-being and education.

Previously Looked After Children (Children who are no longer In Care and have been subject to an Adoption, Special Guardianship, Child-Arrangement or Residence Order)

Many children who have previously been in care, have suffered trauma in their early life and can struggle to thrive in school. If your child is Previously Looked After please contact Miss Everett so we can plan a smooth transition together. We can then plan the best use of the Pupil Premium Plus to support them on their journey through school.
