Dear Parents,

We have really enjoyed the sunshine making an appearance at school this week.  The field is drying out at long last, and we are hopeful of getting out there next week.  

The children are busy answering their big questions.  I spent a lovely afternoon with Orange Class on Monday.  The children have decided that they are going to be Reception Rescuers and help to save the creatures of the ocean from the impact of plastic pollution.  They have begun writing booklets to persuade people to think about how they dispose of their rubbish.

On Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning, I visited Violet and Indigo Class.  Violet Class were not impressed with Chef Skelton's sandwich making skills, so with some nuggets of inside information from Mrs Spence they set about writing instructions for a cucumber sandwich fit for King Charles III.  Indigo had invited the King's chef into the class and accepted her challenge to produce new instructions for their recipe book.  Both classes used all their writing skills to write an effective set of instructions.  I was tempted to make a sandwich for my tea last night.  Year 2 thank you for the tips - I used Cornish butter on the finest white bread - delicious.

Year 1 have been captivated by their learning about Mary Anning.  They have begun thinking about what it means to be a Palaeontologist and cannot wait to investigate the fossils we have collected.  

Benhall is a uniquely special place to be.

Year Group in Focus - Reception

What an absolute delight this week has been. There has been so much joy in both classrooms. The children have been busy weaving under the sea backgrounds which we will be adding to next week. They look stunning already and we are excited to see the finished outcomes. We have also created ‘Did you know?’ fact booklets all about pollution and read our facts to the whole school on Friday. Did you know that of you throw rubbish in the sea a hermit crab might think it is a home? Did you know that if you do not put rubbish in the bin then seagulls might try to eat it? We have been thinking about what we can do to stop pollution and w have so many ideas that we are going to focus on for the rest of the term. As well as this we have been thinking about healthy options and foods which are good for us and food which should be eaten as a treat. The children have sorted the foods and there has been lots of rich discussions about a balanced diet. Thank goodness that the sun has come out, we have enjoyed lots of outdoor learning and our second balanceability session. Have a superb weekend everyone.
