This term, we have been exploring the theme ‘Awesome Autumn’ by studying some of the wonderful plants and animals that surround us. The story focus for this term has been Beatrix Potter. We began by finding out about her life and work, then learned the story of Peter Rabbit. This helped us to complete some spectacular story writing about Peter!
We completed science research into animals, finding out about hibernation, migration and adaption. We also researched nocturnal, diurnal and cathemeral animals. We also learned about the life cycle of an oak and found out how to recognise different types of trees.
In maths, we have been developing a very secure understanding of number and place value and have moved on to addition and subtraction.
To finish our term, we took a trip to Westonbirt Arboretum to see the incredible autumn colours and find out even more about plants and animals. Did you know that moles paralyse worms and store them up ready for a tasty treat later on?
We have been developing our understanding of what it means to be a purple learner. We have been continuing to learn how to encourage and celebrate others and why effort is so important for our learning. We have been discussing how to keep trying when things get difficult and how to learn from feedback. Each week, we talk about our purple learner focus and think of ways we can get even better!
