Time to Celebrate!!
This term we are looking at celebrations, both from our culture and others.
We learnt about firework night and the story around this British tradition. We used our funky fingers to make fireworks, talked about firework safety, made addition numicon rockets and re-told the story in the role-play area, small world and puppet theatre.
Armistice Day was on November 11th and we spent the week learning about what it is, why we recognise this important day and the significance of the poppy. To show our signs of respect and gratitude we painted a beautiful poppy onto a stone and made it into a wreath-shaped circle on the floor. We also did a 2 minute silence where we thought really hard about all the soldiers in the war and what it must have been like for them.
We took part in Children in Need and raised alot of money for a good cause. We looked at how some people can be less fortunate than ourselves and what we could do to help.
We learned about the Hindu festival of Diwali and found out all about why the festival is so important to them through the story of Rama and Sita. We explored how Hindu's celebrate the festival and what they might get up to.
Christmas deliciousness to come next!!!!!
