This half term our topic is 'Lets Celebrate' and we have begun with two celebrations : Bonfire Night and Diwali. The children researched who celebrates Diwali and why and have been lucky enough to have had a visit from Mrs Sharma who told them all about how they celebrate Diwali in their house every year. They have gone on to draw Rangoli patterns, Mendhi pattern designs for their hands and feet and some fantastic temples. The children have enjoyed using musical instruments to write their own Diwali songs. We have also looked at the story of Guy Fawkes, created safety steps for Bonfire Night and designed their own fireworks.
Outdoors we have used a huge roll of paper to create a firework scene, have tried to move like different fireworks and built bonfires in small teams. We have enjoyed every minute of immersing your children in this topic and we are only on week 1 !
Over the next few weeks we are going to be looking at The Pushcar Camel celebrations and then moving on to the Christmas celebrations.
Watch out for our weekly Friday letters to find out more
