Term 4

Roald Dahl

This term, Year 2 are diving into the weird and wonderful world of Roald Dahl. We have been researching Roald Dahl to find out all about his adventurous and fascinating life. Did you know Roald Dahl worked as a spy in America during the Second World War? We couldn't believe that he was named after Roald Amundsen (the first man to reach the South Pole).

We also found out about Quentin Blake, who illustrated all but one of Roald Dahl's children's books. By closely studying his technique, we learned how to draw in his distinctive style.
Now we are beginning to delve deeper into one of our favourite Roald Dahl books: Fantastic Mr Fox. We find his character descriptions hilarious, and have been excited to complete our own descriptions of Boggis, Bunce and Bean. Soon we will be learning how to write other story elements as well as Roald Dahl by exploring how he describes settings and makes action exciting.
