Inclusion

At Benhall Infant and Pre-School we have high expectations for all of our staff and pupils.  We ensure that our learning environments meet the needs of all learners to provide the right balance of support and challenge with the aim that every child thrives in their development and learning.

All of our staff are supported by our highly experienced Senior Leadership team, including our SENDCO, to meet the needs of children with additional learning and developmental needs.

Our aim is that all children access the highest quality teaching and learning within their nominated class environment, with additional support or intervention provided by qualified and experienced adults who work with the child/ren on a daily basis.  This ensures all children develop a sense of belonging and build positive relationships with both their peers and adults across the provision.  Where interventions need to happen on a 1:1 or small group basis,  these are carefully timetabled so that children do not miss out on key aspects of their pre-school/school day.  In addition, we also have an internal enhanced provision; 'Rainbow room', which is a dedicated, inclusive space designed to support children who are currently undergoing assessment or have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This enhanced provision offers a calming, structured, and well-organised environment with trained practitioners, that promotes emotional regulation and positive engagement in learning. Some of our children access this for part of their day or specific learning activities, whilst others use this space as the main base for their teaching and learning.

At Benhall, difference is accepted and celebrated and the children show that they understand that their family, views, religion, skills and abilities might be different from their friends, but that is to be celebrated and shared.
